Switching career during pandemic

At the start of the first quarter of 2020, we all know that the whole world was stricken with the known Coronavirus. It is a sad reality to all of us. With the effect brought by the Coronavirus, the economy was down and we cannot depend all the time of what the government can offer but as individuals we must have to do something in which we can help restore the economy. As a citizen we had the obligation to help the government rise up amidst this pandemic.

I am a mother of four, a confectioner but a business management graduate. Before the pandemic, I can say that my cakes and pastries business is doing well because one of my markets are the school and government canteens. For almost 15 years I've been into baking which is one of my passions. Before I got married, I used to work as an Operational Manager in a Food Distribution Company here in our province but I decided to be a full time mom and that is where my passion which is baking turns out to be my business. Well, I have much time with my children while doing business and ministry at the same time. But when the Coronavirus hit the world, I was one of the most affected people. I have no choice, schools are not operating anymore and 70% of my suki’s are the students. For 3 months I’ve been thinking of how am I going to survive with the situation right now.

Browsing on the internet, in the different social media platforms, I was able to come up with the idea to do business online. But, coming from an old school generation is not an easy work for me. I am much behind with the technologies and the terminologies itself. I know that with the advance technology, the trends in the internet and everything is new to me, but I have to embrace the change, the new normal. Wondering what is virtual assistance or VA, freelancers, I know I need mr google for me to understand the word. I read articles about the work of a VA, it’s job description and I had a hard time in my decisions to have further knowledge about the virtual industry. This is where I start looking for somebody who can tell me what it is all about. I am blessed enough to come across in one of the fb ads about FVA Academy and very much timely, they are going to celebrate their 4th year anniversary and they have given everyone the opportunity to enroll in different courses with a 50% off as their anniversary promo and I grab that privilege.

Switching career during pandemic is not an easy thing to decide, but with the determination and the will to survive, I am giving myself in. I prepared myself mentally, emotionally and physically with this new journey not minding my age, the young and diligent competitors in this industry, all I know is that I am focused and willing to learn the things I will encounter and of course I know that with the wisdom of God I will reach the goal of getting clients in the near future. With my skills and with the help of FVA Academy I am now ready to face the new normal.
